What do you think you’re doing here?
Come over here!!!!
Haven’t I warned you not to come anywhere close to my gang? Haven’t I???”
As soon as I heard those words I wished the earth would just swallow me up because I knew what was coming next
Maybe you know what’s coming next too but if you do not know then lemme enlighten you
~Hi, my name is Sawyer and I am a junior in high school
Ever since the very first day I stepped foot into my school, I have been taunted and haunted by a group of boys here.
What’s worse? I have no one to tell because it seems no one actually cares about me being bullied by some seniors.
Oh and lest I forget, apart from no one actually caring, I don’t think I can even tell because I’m actually scared of what they might do to me if they ever find out
So back to where I left off at the beginning…
I wished the earth would swallow me up because
They are going to beat the life out of me
Yes they are going to beat me for no reason whatsoever
They just find it fun to do that to me and trust me this is not the first time
When it all started, I tried to report the issue to the authorities but they didn’t take any serious action with them and after that whole experience, it just got worse.
Every where they see me I have to be punched or slapped or kicked or at worse be threatened with knives and all that.
Now I’m scared of coming to school
I now detest a place a used to love
And I’m even scared of home because sometimes when I go home and my parents see all the bruises on my body they begin to ask questions
But I have no proper answer to give them so I just lie to them that I hit my head or something of that sort.
I’m scared because they are everywhere I go which means I get hit everywhere I go
In the washroom, the hallway, the classroom, the compound and anywhere else you can think of they are there
I wish this would all just end
I wish I don’t have to go through this every time
Sometimes I wish I could talk to someone but I can’t
I feel dejected and broken
I can’t take this anymore
The hate is too much for me
I want it all to be over
I just want to die
This is my Story….~

AFRICA…MY MOST FRUITFUL
We used to have the most cultured and respected generation filled with dignity and love for our culture and heritage
What happened to us that what our parents feared to do we now use it to “whatsapp”?
Copying blindly from the western world, we’ve lost our dignity and pride and I wonder how we will ever get it back?
Even our television stations and FM radios have stopped teaching and broadcasting our culture but they have inculcated the western culture into our children
The purely appalling sense of a so-called fashion has become a canker in our children and our parents do nothing but put their hands in their bosom and observe
Where? Where?? Where???
Where are we going from here my people? What do we see to become of our continent years to come?
What do we see our children mature to be in the near future if they go on like this?
What is our perception of our future if we stay in our comfort zone and ruin our culture?
The story continues….

AFRICA, MY MOST BEAUTIFUL
What happened to the essence of our culture and heritage?
What brought about this shameful adaptation we have gotten ourselves into now?
Where are the moral teachings we taught our children from the ananse stories told every night?
How come our once beautiful and historical country is now filled with nothing but shame?
How do we continue to tell the stories of our forefathers when we can’t even tell today’s stories?
We used to have beautiful daughters who valued and cherished themselves but what have they turned into now?
Pathetic strips of cloth joined together in a disjoint manner they put on and call them clothes.
Gone are the days when our daughters showed pride in wearing “slit” and “kaba” wherever they went
Gone are the days when our sons didn’t wear their trousers as if they were 3 times their waist size
Where have we reached in our Africa that all our beliefs and values have vanished into thin air like a cloud of smoke?
The Story Continues….

“What do I want to be in future?
That’s the question my teacher asked me in school today….
I want to be the UN secretary general when I grow up so I can help the whole world
Yes…that’s my dream”
She has a dream
That is her dream
As young as she is, she aims at helping the world at large
Such a beautiful dream is it?
But that’s not the story I’m telling today
The story continues when she meets her unfortunate dream killer
The dark clouds that consumes her soul with painful tears and bitterness
It wasn’t unconscious nor unthought of but it was a planned cruel act of a heartless being
He had laid wait in the darkness for her for so long but it looked like there was always someone with her
And today, just when she had to go alone, the devil in him strikes
Ripping her of her clothes, dignity, future and life
She’s just but a girl with a dream and a child with a vision
She’s just but a world changer whose world gets changed rather
All for what?
His selfish heartless and carnal desires?
Let’s End Child Abuse
Let’s say no to Rape
NO MEANS NO

“Help!!! Help!!!! Somebody save me!!! Please don’t do this to me!!!
Please I beg you please stop
Stop stop you’re hurting me!!!!
Please!!!!!……”
Do you know why she’s screaming?
Can you imagine what she’s going through?
No? You can’t guess? Let me tell you then…
She’s wailing and screaming because someone is tearing apart her insides brutally
Can you relate to it now?
Do you understand how she’s feeling?
Yes, you’re right or maybe you’re wrong but that’s besides the point because the point is, she is being abused sexually.
She’s being raped by someone who is capable of being her father, Uncle, brother or even her friend.
Why is he raping her when he knows it will ruin her life?
Why would someone just get up and destroy an innocent girl’s future?
Doesn’t he have a conscience?
No feelings or emotions?
No heart or brain?
That child being raped might be the solution to a nation’s issues but look at her now
She will never be the same again
She will lose herself if she doesn’t get help
She will be traumatized for life
She won’t see the world the same again
All due to what???
One selfish, heartless man’s carnal, unruly and ungodly desires?
LET’S END CHILD ABUSE
LET’S STOP RAPE
NO MEANS NO
